  What is an Ashram?
The word Ashram comes from the sanscrit word “aashraya” to mean “protection”. In ancient India, an Ashram was a hindu retreat where the sages and wise ones lived in peace and tranquility with nature. Today, the term Ashram is normally used to describe a community formed with the intention of promoting the spiritual evolution of its members. Traditionally, Ashrams were situated away from urban life in forests or mountains where contact with untouched nature was vital for spiritual instruction and meditation. Physical and spiritual exercises in the form of yoga are regularly practiced by members of an Ashram
.

What is the purpose of an Ashram?
To promote the spiritual development of its members. Psychological, emotional and physical balance. Relaxation and rejuventaion in an environment of peace and harmony with nature. Experiencing deeper understanding and practice of yoga and the inspiration to live our lives in the most positive way possible. With this comes knowledge of nutrition , health , science and consciousness.
